The ISTD Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) is an Ofqual regulated qualification which offers a clear pathway to becoming a qualified dance teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. It comprises 5 units of study which enable student teachers to experience and engage with the latest information into best and safe dance practice applicable to dance teaching.

Brief course structure for the ISTD Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) at The Company Teacher Training :-
Unit 1 - Preparing for Safe Teaching Practice
Contextual unit which is assessed through a series of assessment tasks. Delivered through a mix of video tutorial sessions and live Zoom sessions. Marking and feedback through email communications with tutor.
Unit 2 - Observing, Assisting & Teaching Practice
Student teachers will firstly observe lessons and complete a lesson observation record form. This is followed by a series of lessons assisting an experienced teacher and completing an assisted lesson record form documenting each lesson. Finally, conduct their own independent teaching practice providing lesson plans and evaluations to support. Experienced teachers may only need to complete the teaching practice part of this unit. Student teachers will receive one-to-one tutorials and continuous feedback from their tutor throughout the duration of this unit.

Unit 3 - Level Certificate in Vocational Graded Examination in Dance - Intermediate
The Intermediate level examination from certain other dance boards if accepted. If this unit is required then potential options to complete this will be discussed with each student teacher on an individual basis to ensure completion.
Unit 4 - Dance Practice
This is the main practical unit where at the end of the course student teachers are examined on knowledge of ISTD syllabi in each relevant genre, ability to choreograph appropriate material as requested and analyse technical and artistic aspects of syllabi and relevant purposes and developments. This in tutored live in studio on regular scheduled Mondays and spans a two year programme. We are able to accommodate certain special circumstances and invite potential students to discuss their needs with us.
Unit 5 - Child Development
